Company History

Early 1980s – Foundations
Air Arms is formed from NSP Engineering, already well-known for producing the Jackal series of rifles. The goal: to create a new generation of British-made air rifles that combine craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
1983 – The Beginning
Air Arms is officially founded by Bob Nicholls in East Sussex, England. Colin King becomes General Manager, with Bill Sanders as Sales & Marketing Manager. Launch of the Shamal, Air Arms' first pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) rifle. Acclaimed for its accuracy, it sets the foundation for Air Arms' future in PCP innovation.


1986 – Expanding the Range
The Khamsin underlever spring rifle is introduced, part of a new generation of high-quality spring-piston rifles that raise the bar in performance.
1988 – Innovation in Production
Air Arms invests in Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery, a pivotal move that ensures precision engineering and consistency across all rifles. The company commits fully to the production of PCP rifles, setting its long-term direction.


1992 – The TX200
Launch of the legendary TX200 underlever spring-piston rifle. Widely regarded as one of the finest spring rifles ever produced, the TX200 cements Air Arms' reputation among hunters, competitors, and enthusiasts worldwide.
1999–2000 – The S400 & S500 Series
1999: The S410 PCP rifle is launched, bringing a new level of refinement, reliability, and performance. 2000: Introduction of the S510, offering enhanced features and setting new standards for versatility in both hunting and competition.


2011 – A New Chapter
Following the passing of founder Bob Nicholls, his daughter Claire West (née Nicholls) takes on a leadership role. She continues to guide Air Arms with a strong focus on innovation, quality, and supporting the global shooting community.
2016 – The Galahad
Air Arms unveils the Galahad bullpup rifle. Compact, modern, and ergonomic, it blends advanced technology with Air Arms' renowned precision.


2023 – The XTi-50
Launch of the XTi-50 Field Target rifle, purpose-built for competition shooters. A statement of Air Arms' ongoing dedication to pushing the boundaries of airgun performance.
2024 – Distribution Transformation
Air Arms brings all distribution in-house, strengthening efficiency, service quality, and direct connections with both retailers and customers worldwide.


2025 – Entry-Level Expansion
In partnership with Precihole, Air Arms enters the entry-level market, offering high-quality rifles at accessible price points. This strategic move introduces a new generation of shooters to the Air Arms brand, blending innovation, reliability, and affordability.
