How long have you been shooting?
I didn’t shoot an air rifle until 2003; I joined Harriers FTC in 2005 when I moved with my job and then joined the Air Arms FT team in 2012.
What will be your rifle set up?
The Air Arms EV2 MKII, Big Nikko MkIII scope, Gemini butt hook (bit heavy, but fits well), Rowan air stripper (just like the sound), AJP scope rail (45mm rise to help position and breathing), Jon Harris additional weights on EV2 rail (to balance the weight of the butt hook).
Do you have any good luck charms?
No, but I wear the same jacket, trousers, boots every time to avoid any changes in stance.
What type of pellets will you be using?
I will be using a batch of JSB from 2014 that I brought earlier this year.
How do you feel about the competition being held in Wales?
Portugal, last year, was great. Many of us stayed in the same hotel and there were plenty of laughs. The temperature was up to 43°C and we had about 30 minutes of very light drizzle in the entire 5 days. Rest of the time was bright blue sky. I doubt we’ll get those temperatures and we might just get the odd drop of rain (if we are lucky).
What are you most excited about?
It’s a venue we’ve not shot before and that is always interesting. I think the atmosphere will also be great.
What do you think will be the most difficult thing about the competition?
Apart from waking up early and getting into the right frame of mind, then it has to be the weather. Strong winds and rain always often cause difficulties.
