Air rifle shooting has been a massive part of my life for over 20 years now. I recently took a break from the sport for a few years, but when I decided to pick up an air rifle once again one question remained, which one?
During my time off from shooting air rifles and scopes had changed dramatically, I had a lot to learn before picking up an air rifle. Whilst I was researching, a well-known air rifle shooter told me “Look at the air rifles that people are winning with on the field target shooting circuit. If you like the gun, then go with that one”. So I did just that and purchased an Air Arms EV2 MKIV.
What I love about my Air Arms EV2 –
Before I set out for my first shooting session with my new air rifle I took the time to learn it inside and out. I immediately found that cocking lever smooth and very easy to use. I also loved the trigger, it can be set to any shooters style and a custom blade can be fitted if needed. When I took it out onto the targets I was amazed how straight it shot.
My chosen scope is an old Bushnell 3200 with an 8-32 magnitude. The optics on this scope is perfect for my shooting style. One of the most important parts on my air rifle is the barrel.
The Air Arms EV doesn’t disappoint, as the barrel is extremely accurate.
I have a custom Warren Edwards lightweight stock that weighs about 11lbs with the scope and has been dipped in a subtle Union Jack wrap.
I chose this style in honor of my father who was part of the horse guards for the Queen and on her coronation.
If I could have a second gun I would love either a HFT 500 with a Hawke scope or my absolute dream air rifle an Air Arms RSN 70.
