Maldon & District Air Rifle Club (M.A.D.) played host to the first British Air Rifle Championship. Field Target and Hunter Field Target shooters alike flocked to the shooting grounds on the 9th July to compete in a FT course set to BFTA rules and a HFT course set to UKAHFT rules. There were 3 competitions running on the day – one for HFT, one for FT, as well as the overall championship.
Competitors went head-to-head as they tried their luck at both disciplines. After an intense day of competitive shooting, Dave Ramshead finished with the highest combined score in both disciplines to become the first British Air Rifle Champion.
Richard Woods finished in 2nd place in the HFT course and Simon Vant came 3rd. In the FT course, Ian Phillips won 1st place, Graham Jopson took 2nd and Gary Keogh took home 3rd place.
Jason Lockett was the winner of the 1st place Recoil/ 0.22 class.
The competing shooters had the chance to take part in the popular Air Arms Speed Shoot competition. Air Arms shooter, Paul Relf finished in 1st place with quickest time.
All competitors were automatically entered into the end-of-shoot prize draw and won some fabulous Air Arms prizes.
